Liberty Steel Group have an exciting opportunity for an Electrician to join our High Voltage Electrical Maintenance Team. The Role of the High Voltage Technician will be to provide a High Voltage Electrical, inspection and repair service for the Speciality Steels business working across 3 Liberty sites in South Yorkshire, and occasionally for other business units at other sites.

  • The candidate will have specific knowledge and skills to provide Electrical Maintenance and repairs to our High Voltage (>1000v) networks, Low Voltage (<1000v) networks and associated switch gear.
  • The Job holder should be apprentice trained and must have a minimum of 2 years experience in Electrical inspection and repair work in a heavy industrial environment preferably involving High Voltage work and fault finding.
  • The Job holder is required to work as part of a team, where Team members must be able to understand safe working procedures and apply recognised safety practices, to each task they are undertaking and ensure other team members behave accordingly.
  • Team members must be self-motivated and highly flexible. They are required to work unsupervised and deliver a first-class customer service in accordance with departmental goals and Key performance indicators.
Requirements of the High Voltage Electrical Technician
  • A working knowledge of the following: -
  • HV & LV Networks, Circuit Breakers, and Protection Equipment
  • Transformers
  • Earthing Systems
  • HV & LV Permit to Work Systems
  • Electrical testing methods and fault-finding skills.
  • The job holder should have a methodical approach to work, with attention to detail and accuracy when completing inspection paperwork, analytical and problem-solving skills, decision-making skills, and effective verbal communication.
  • A current driving license is essential


The Working Pattern if the High Voltage Electrical Technician

  • The role operates on a 7-day rota. Working hours are 7am to 3pm Monday to Friday and 6am to 2pm weekends, with opportunity for occasional overtime working for which a premium is paid.
