Interim Estates Surveyor

Location: South Yorkshire (3-4 days onsite)

Contract: Interim (initial 3-6 months, with potential extension)

Spencer Clarke Group are supporting a Local Authority in South Yorkshire in their search for an experienced Estates Surveyor to join their team on an interim basis. There are two posts available - one focused on General Property Management and the other within the Strategic Asset Management team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake rent reviews, lease renewals, and general landlord and tenant negotiations
  • Carry out property acquisitions and disposals to support council objectives
  • Manage and market void properties
  • Support debt recovery and income generation from the estate
  • Provide property management services across a varied commercial and operational portfolio
  • (For Strategic Asset role) Contribute to property reviews to support capital receipts and revenue savings targets
  • Advise internal stakeholders on best practice and value for money in property use

Requirements

  • RICS qualified (or working toward) preferred but not essential with strong demonstrable experience
  • Proven track record in estate management, including landlord and tenant work
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills
  • Experience in acquisition, disposal, and property marketing
  • Local authority or public sector experience essential
  • Ability to work independently across multiple property types and priorities
