Production Scientist

Wise Employment are looking for a Production Scientist to join a laboratory-based production team in Rotherham, South Yorkshire. This amazing opportunity is a full-time Permanent position, where you will earn a salary of £28,000 a year and have access to some benefits such as 25 days’ holiday, a health plan, contributory pension, training and development and excellent amenities on site plus free parking.

In this position you will be required to work 40 hours a week, 8am – 5pm, however there is some flexibility, so could work 7am – 4pm or 9am to 6pm which would be discussed at interview stages.

As a Production Scientist your Key Responsibilities will be to:

  • Manufacture products within a laboratory environment
  • Work as part of a multi-functional team supporting production across microscopy applications
  • Maintain accurate production documentation and manufacturing records
  • Perform quality control checks and monitor product output
  • Troubleshoot production issues and implement corrective actions
  • Develop and improve production methods to enhance quality and yield
  • Plan production schedules to ensure continuous product supply
  • Prepare and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Complete risk and health & safety assessments
  • Support laboratory upkeep, equipment maintenance, and team training
  • Oversee laboratory operations when required

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Degree in a scientific discipline or equivalent laboratory experience
  • Experience in a laboratory or manufacturing environment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Good problem-solving and organisational skills
  • Understanding of laboratory safety and SOP-driven work
  • Competent with Microsoft Word, Excel, and similar software
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills

Work Environment

  • Laboratory-based role with strict safety standards
  • Manual handling of materials up to 10kg
