About the Role:
Elevation People Solutions are pleased to be recruiting on behalf of a precision engineering company based in Rugby. Due to continued growth, our client is seeking an experienced Setter / Operator to join their skilled team on the day shift. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual with a strong background in CNC Fixed Head Turning to be part of a high-quality, forward-thinking Engineering environment.
The ideal candidate will be confident in setting and operating Fixed Head CNC Turning Centres and be familiar with FANUC controls, live tooling, and first-principle inspection techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
- Setting and operating Fixed Head CNC Turning machines (FANUC controlled).
- Producing first-off components to drawing specification and ensuring readiness for production runs.
- Preparing tooling and programs prior to production.
- Monitoring tool wear and adjusting offsets to maintain quality.
- Conducting in-process inspection using shadow graphs, Vici Vision, OGP, and traditional methods.
- Updating production and tooling records following completion of jobs.
- Ensuring the working area meets 5S and health & safety standards.
- Collaborating with the NPI and CI teams to support new product introductions and improve processes.
- Daily use of production and scheduling systems to record activity and update shift data.
- Carrying out routine TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) tasks.
Candidate Requirements:
- Proven experience in CNC Fixed Head Turning (FANUC ideally).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and programs.
- Experience in setting up multi-spindle and turret lathes with live tooling.
- Knowledge of tooling grades, geometry, and cutting data.
- Competent in using measurement equipment and inspection tools.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work to tight tolerances.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Positive attitude and commitment to continuous improvement.
- Good IT skills, especially in Excel and production systems.
- Experience with CAD/CAM systems is advantageous (e.g., Fusion 360, EdgeCAM, SolidCAM).
