Your new companyHays Recruitment are proud to be working in partnership with a Runcorn-based high school as they require motivated and reliable teaching assistants to support across all KS3 and KS4 classes for the entirety of next academic year. There are several full-time long-term contracts available that will last the full academic year starting in September 2025.Your new roleAs a teaching assistant within this school, you will be joining an extremely welcoming and supportive team of educational professionals. You will work alongside class teachers to offer a stimulating and engaging learning environment by taking a pupil-centred approach to education and utilising an array of learning equipment that will not only ensure that the attainment and social needs of all pupils are at the heart of operations but to also help you build strong constructive relationships with your pupils. You will assist in general classroom and behaviour management by implementing an array of positive behaviour strategies that your new pupils respond best to. Typically, these will consist of positive reinforcement, DOJO/reward charts, de-escalation techniques, distraction techniques, regulation and playing small games to retain focus. As well as this, you will offer intervention and booster sessions in all core subjects on a 1:1 and small group basis and at times you will be required to deliver intense Maths and English interventions to lower/mixed ability pupils. As the academic year progresses, as student shortfalls are identified, you may find that your role within the role streamlines and progresses to SEN, intervention, behavioural or a different specialist area.What you'll need to succeedTo be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK as well as recent referenceable classroom experience, as well as:

  • Experience implementing positive behaviour strategies in a classroom/school environment
  • Experience delivering intervention and booster sessions in core subjects
  • Be able to commit to a full-time temporary contract (32.5 hours per week)
  • An NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification is advantageous but not essential
