Your new companyA reputable public-sector organisation based in Manchester is seeking an experienced Procurement Officer / Buyer to join their friendly team on a permanent basis. The organisation has grown over the last few years and is a well-known employer within the public-sector procurement market. The client offers a flexible and hybrid way of working, giving you a great work-life balance.Your new roleThe Procurement Officer will be responsible for the compliance procurement activity on behalf of the organisation. Working closely with the Category Manager, you will find effective procurement solutions to deliver optimal value for money and ensuring that public money is well-spent. You will partner with various internal stakeholders to ascertain their commercial requirements, and will work strategically with external stakeholders to find solutions which deliver goods, works and services whilst coordinating contract and supplier management activities, including managing a contracts database. The procurement officer will undertake end-to-end tendering activities which adhere to the new Procurement Act 2023.What you'll need to succeed

  • A proven background in public-sector procurement with a detailed knowledge of relevant procurement legislation (PA23 or PCR2015)
  • Excellent negotiation and influencing skills
  • Strong level of written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience of contract management
  • Experience of writing reports for key stakeholders
  • Experience of analysing spend and delivery of savings
  • Ideally, you will be CIPS Level 4 qualified and working towards MCIPS
