This specialist setting supports children with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, offering a nurturing and structured environment to help pupils thrive. Due to increasing demand, the school is seeking a dedicated and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team.

Your New Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with additional needs, both in and out of the classroom. You will work closely with teaching staff to deliver tailored interventions, manage challenging behaviour, and promote positive learning experiences. This is a full-time, long-term role with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs on a 1:1 and small group basis
  • Assisting with the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs)
  • Promoting emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
  • Collaborating with teachers, therapists, and external agencies
  • Creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment

What You'll Need to Succeed

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Experience working with children with SEN, particularly SEMH or behavioural needs
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare
  • A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent) is desirable but not essential
