GSL Education are seeking a caring and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to work in primary and secondary settings across Scunthorpe. This is an exciting opportunity to provide dedicated support to pupils who require additional help to reach their full potential.

Role Overview:
As an SEN TA, you will provide tailored support to students with special educational needs, both in the classroom and in small group or one-to-one settings. You will work closely with teaching staff to adapt lessons, encourage engagement, and help pupils develop academically, socially, and emotionally.

Responsibilities as an SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Support pupils with a range of special educational needs, such as ASD, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and learning disabilities.
  • Work one-to-one or in small groups to deliver targeted interventions.
  • Assist the class teacher in adapting resources and lesson plans to meet pupil needs.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teaching staff and SENCO.
  • Promote inclusion and encourage positive behaviour.
  • Build trusting relationships with pupils, parents, and staff.

Requirements for SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Experience working with children with SEN in a school setting is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach.
  • A valid enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply.
  • A full, up-to-date CV with explanations for any gaps in employment over the last 10 years.
