Elevation Recruitment are working with a Sheffield based Special Purpose Machinery manufacturer to help them recruit a CAD Technician within their Civils team on a 6 month contract.

Responsible for supporting the design and delivery of civil/structural engineering works associated with heavy industrial equipment installations. The successful candidate will work closely with engineers and project teams to produce accurate drawings, with a focus on reinforced concrete foundations and associated service integration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce, monitor, and check design documentation including general arrangement drawings, specifications, schedules, calculations, and enquiry specifications to ensure technical compliance and alignment with project requirements, company procedures, and statutory regulations
  • Primarily responsible for the production of general arrangement drawings for concrete foundations, often for large-scale or heavy industrial machinery, incorporating features such as embedded conduits, cable ducts, and pipework channels
  • Ensure that all civil design and construction activities meet required quality standards, remain within budget, and are completed in line with agreed project timescales
  • Collaborate with the Lead Engineer, providing technical input for a defined scope of work on various projects, contributing to successful and commercially sound project delivery.
  • Monitor project progress, assist with reporting, and support effective change management throughout the project lifecycle
  • Participate in meetings with clients both on site and in the office, offering technical insights and ensuring alignment with client expectations
  • Provide ongoing technical support during construction phases to ensure civil works are executed in accordance with design specifications and performance requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical specifications, civil engineering man-hour estimates, and merchant account budgets for project bids and proposals, balancing competitiveness with feasibility

Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience in a similar civil CAD Technician role, ideally within an industrial or heavy engineering environment
  • Proficient in AutoCAD; familiarity with Revit and Navisworks is highly desirable
  • Good understanding of reinforced concrete detailing and integration of civil structures with mechanical and electrical systems
  • Ability to interpret and produce technical drawings and documentation to a high standard.
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to checking and verifying designs.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary project environment.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage workload effectively and meet deadlines.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of civil design practices for foundations supporting heavy plant and equipment.
  • Experience working with international clients or on large infrastructure projects.
