CRA Consulting, a specialist legal recruitment agency, is working in partnership with Sheffield City Council to recruit two experienced Adult Social Care Lawyers on a locum basis. These roles offer the flexibility of remote working while providing vital legal support to a busy in-house legal team.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide expert legal advice to Adult Social Care services within the Council, with a focus on safeguarding, mental capacity, and best interest decisions.
- Handle a varied caseload of complex legal matters relating to the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, Court of Protection, and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS).
- Represent the Council in court proceedings, tribunal hearings, and case conferences.
- Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents such as care agreements, legal notices, and court applications.
- Advise on risk management and support social care professionals with legal training and best practice guidance.
- Liaise effectively with internal departments, external stakeholders, and multi-agency partners.
- Qualified Solicitor or Barrister with a valid practising certificate.
- Demonstrable experience in adult social care law, ideally gained in a local authority or public sector setting.
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation including the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, and DoLS frameworks.
- Excellent advocacy and case management skills, with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of building professional relationships across teams and with service users.
