About the Role

We are seeking dedicated and vigilant Exam Invigilators to join the team at a School in Sheffield during the crucial summer exam period. This role is pivotal in ensuring students are given the best opportunity to succeed in a secure, well-organised, and fair environment. As an Invigilator, you will help maintain the integrity of the exams by supervising students, ensuring rules are followed, and dealing with issues calmly and appropriately.

Start Date: Monday 12th May

Location: Sheffield

Hours: Part-time (Sessions: 8.15 am-11.15 am and/or 12.15 pm-3.15 pm)

Requirements

  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one)
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • Commitment to safeguarding and student well-being
  • Flexibility to work either/both morning and afternoon sessions

Desirable but not essential:

  • Previous experience in an invigilation or supervisory role
  • Experience working with young people or in an educational environment

Responsibilities include:
  • Arriving on time for assigned exam sessions
  • Setting up exam venues with papers and equipment
  • Distributing and collecting exam papers
  • Reading out exam instructions clearly to candidates
  • Monitoring students throughout exams for compliance
  • Reporting any suspicious activity to senior staff
  • Responding to student queries without compromising the integrity of the exam
  • Supervising students entering and exiting the room
  • Maintaining silence and order during exams
  • Recording absentees and completing seating plans
  • Checking candidate IDs
