W Talent are delighted to be working on behalf of a successful, medium-sized engineering and manufacturing company based in Sheffield, who are currently seeking to appoint a Quality Inspector on a permanent, full-time basis.

Quality Inspector Position

This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established business with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality, precision-engineered products for a global customer base. The company specialises in the manufacture of valves and associated components for a wide range of sectors including oil and gas, chemical processing, and power generation. With manufacturing operations based in Sheffield a city with a proud industrial heritage this business continues to grow by investing in both people and technology.

Job Spec

As a Quality Inspector, you will play a vital role within the quality department, ensuring that all products meet stringent industry standards, customer requirements, and internal specifications. Working from the Sheffield site, you will carry out inspections at various stages of production and support the wider quality assurance function by contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

This is a days-based role, offering an excellent work-life balance, with no shift or weekend work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting dimensional and visual inspections of incoming materials, in-process components, and finished products.
  • Using a wide range of measuring tools including micrometres, verniers, height gauges, bore gauges, and thread gauges.
  • Interpreting and working from detailed engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Identifying and documenting any non-conformances, ensuring appropriate corrective actions are raised and followed through.
  • Completing inspection reports, records, and quality documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Working closely with the Quality Manager and production teams to resolve quality issues and minimise rework.
  • Supporting root cause analysis and participating in problem-solving activities.
  • Assisting with internal and external audits, customer visits, and certification processes as required.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement projects aimed at increasing quality, efficiency, and safety across the site.
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety and quality management systems at all times.

Essential skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you'll need to have a strong background in inspection within a manufacturing or engineering environment. You'll be someone who takes pride in their work, is detail-focused, and is confident in making decisions when assessing the quality of critical components.

  • Previous experience in a similar Quality Inspector or Mechanical Inspector role.
  • Proficient in using a variety of precision measuring instruments.
  • Knowledge of quality standards and inspection processes within manufacturing.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team environment.
  • Competent with record-keeping and quality documentation.
