We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to work in our clients Sheffield office within their civil engineering commercial team.
As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor you will be working on projects ranging from £2k to £2.5M (usually on smaller value schemes, maintenance and reactive works, civil engineering by nature).
Main Function of Job:
Prepare estimates using a schedule of rates
Price variations / technical queries to contracted works
Liaise with delivery team regarding works executed
Analyse cost reports
Assist in producing final accounts
Negotiate and agree final accounts with Client
Compile cost-value reconciliations
Submit periodic valuations
Assessing sub-contractors claims
Attend site to take measurements
Attend progress meetings
Contribute to monthly commercial meetings
Submit periodic applications for payment
Assist with and help produce commercial reports for the Board of Directors
Assist with all change control processes
Work with supply chain for procurement of suppliers and S/C
Assist with tenders
Comply with and promote the company safety policy
Experience and Personal Qualities:
Similar experience working within a contracting environment (rail experience preferred but not essential)
Ability to work on own initiative and unsupervised
Person Specification:
HND / HNC or working towards - Essential
MS Office Skills - Essential
Degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying - Desirable
