Housing Solutions Officer

Sheffield City Council are looking for a dedicated Housing Solutions Officer to join the Private Rented Solutions Team (PRS) within the Accommodation and Support service. This is a temporary position offering a unique opportunity to contribute to a team that plays a crucial role in providing housing solutions to those in need.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Negotiate with landlords to facilitate the letting process.
  • Match customers to appropriate properties, conduct property viewings, and manage tenancy sign-ups.
  • Engage in homeless prevention activities, which may include home visits or visits to hospitals and other relevant sites.
  • Interview clients, undertake housing need and homelessness assessments within statutory and policy frameworks, and provide ongoing support.
  • Prevent homelessness, hospital admissions, and delayed discharges from supported and institutional accommodation.
  • Collect and process information related to applications from various sources.
  • Make informed decisions within legal and policy frameworks to provide positive outcomes for clients.
  • Assist clients in accessing specialist support services and navigating the Council’s Lettings Policy, including the bidding process.
  • Liaise with other statutory and voluntary sector organisations and arrange interim accommodation as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with a diverse range of individuals.
  • Proven ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Experience in housing, social work, or a related field is highly advantageous.
  • Valid Enhanced DBS on the update service
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
