Job Title: Legal Secretary Probate Location: Shipley, West YorkshireSalary: £26,000–£28,000 per annum (negotiable depending on experience)Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm (flexible start/end times considered)Holidays: 22 days annual leave + bank holidays + office closure over Christmas (increases with service to 25 days) About the Probate Legal Secretary Role:We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established firm of solicitors in Shipley seeking an experienced Probate Legal Secretary to support a busy Private Client Fee Earner. This is a varied and autonomous role for someone with prior experience in probate, wills, and lasting powers of attorney. Key Responsibilities of the Probate Legal Secretary:
  • Drafting and preparing standard wills from precedents
  • Preparing and submitting Lasting Powers of Attorney
  • Assisting with probate applications, including gathering financial information, writing to banks, building societies, and stockbrokers
  • Preparing letters and documentation for the administration of estates post-probate
  • Supporting the fee earner by proactively managing tasks with minimal supervision
  • Working across a caseload that includes both taxable and non-taxable estates
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
  • Previous experience in a probate legal secretary or similar private client legal support role
  • Strong knowledge of the probate process and relevant documentation
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative
  • Excellent attention to detail and communication skills
  • Professional, personable, and capable of representing the firm well to clients and third parties
