An established global manufacturing business who provides products and services to an assortment of industries throughout the world, has a newly created opportunity for a Quality Engineer to join one of their leading sites in the UK. The business is part of a multi-billion pound operation and the site in Birmingham has received a lot of investment and complete refurbishment. They provide their products to many industries, but one of the key area of focus for them within the West Midlands is Automotive (IATF 16949). They have a team of 4 quality professionals, and this position has become available due to someone retiring from the business. They are offering a salary package circa to 45k to 50k with a 39 hour week, finish early Fridays, Flexi-Time and much more.
Job Purpose:
The role is to support internal and external customers in product quality concerns and resolution, also as part of project teams support the business on APQP activities on new products and developments.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for customers (as designated by the Quality Manager) quality reporting and metrics, updating of customer portals.
- Support improvements within the quality department to achieve business objectives.
- The Quality Engineer will liaise with customers to ensure customers' processes are adhered to.
- Manage customer returns and analysis according to individual requirements with effective close out.
- Creation and issuing of production controls plans for new products and processes and where required updating of documentation in line with modifications.
- Supporting modifications to products and processes in line with company business operations system procedures.
- Liaise with Product Engineering on customer returns analysis.
- Support production environment on process and product concerns with view to improvements and non-recurrence.
- Compilation, submission and approval of customer PPAPs for new and modified products.
- Supporting other Quality Engineers in their day-to-day role to ensure full customer satisfaction.
Requirements:
- Experienced Quality Engineer who has worked in the Automotive Industry at SME level.
- Experienced in working to IATF16949 accreditations.
- Manufacturing processes - Machining, Assembly and Test
- Experienced in understanding Lean Methodologies (8D)
- Confident communicator at all levels
- Willing to travel on occasions to customer sites
