Assistant Programme Manager/Project Manager Inside IR35 Rates circa £300-£400 per day Umbrella Shrewsbury based with Hybrid working available. 3-6 month contract initially We are currently looking for a Project Manager for our client who are a major UK water company to work on their mains renewable projects. This will suit a Project manager with a couple of years experience of an Assistant/Junior/Graduate Project Manager looking for their next step up. This is working on Engineering/Infrastructur projects so need someone who has worked in that industry rather than solely IT projects Role Objective: • The Assistant Programme Manager will work closely with the Project Co-ordinators to ensure that the mains renewal activity runs smoothly, providing coaching to the Project Co-ordinators when required. • This role will ensure that compliance is kept up to date, such as cost tracking and legal paperwork. • They will also work closely with the Community Liaison Officers to ensure that all pre-work comms are issued to customers prior to work commencing. Key Accountabilities: • This role will own programme management of the end-to-end scheme, planning resource, equipment and forecasting cost and delivery profiles. • Responsible for writing the gated papers for assigned schemes as they progress through the programme. • Responsible for ensuring the planning, ordering & coordinating of all plant, equipment, materials & fittings for the scheme as well as liaising with supply chain to manage this. • Directly support the Network Construction Manager to ensure that all materials and equipment have been costed within the plan and are organised to arrive at the relevant time as needed for the scheme. • Ensuring SAP and / or relevant systems are up to date with the delivery and cost relating to relevant schemes. • If there is a change to project scope the Assistant Programme Manager will provide support directly to onsite construction teams to arrange emergency equipment/plant/tools if required. • Accountable for ensuring all documentation including all HSE driven CDM and legal documents are up to date and collated for all schemes and relevant for all stakeholders involved within a scheme. • Working with the Community Liaison Officers to ensure all proactive & reactive customer communications are coordinated and details are provided to ensure customers are given advance notice of works. • Working in collaboration with all stakeholders of a scheme, owning end to end cost design & delivery at scheme level. • Creating cost lines and reforecasting spend against schemes, acting as the first line of assurance for any scope creep. • If there is a change to project scope the Assistant Programme Manager will ensure support is available to onsite construction teams, ensuring the arrangement of emergency equipment/plant/tools if required. • Completing all capitalisation, EUT process and ensuring all as laid are captured on the relevant systems. • Responsible for planning and coordination of at least 2 schemes per year. Capabilities: In order to succeed in this role it is expected that you will have: • This role will work in collaboration with people across the mains renewal team, effective communication is essential to ensure a smooth programme. • Strong influencing skills are essential, as this role will need to be able to persuade multiple stakeholders the best path for the programme. • Good time management and prioritisation skills, able to manage activities which are direct to the scheme or indirect to ensure a smooth programme. • The role will be able to disseminate which solution is the most efficient and cost effective for the scheme, within the bounds of the practical solution available to deliver the scheme to a high quality. • They will have freedom to make decisions, however, will receive guidance from the senior programme engineer on the scheme as required. • Excellent understanding of CDM regulations. • Able to seek out and act on opportunities for continuous improvements to ensure an efficient & cost effective programme.
