The Role

Within this role you will work within our Regional Adoption Agency completing Adoption Agency Advise for Shropshire and Telford Locality Hub.

The postholder will ensure the appropriate complex legalisation, regulations, guidance and procedures are implemented through the provision of high-quality professional information, advice and guidance to the Agency Decision Makers (ADM) making the SHOPA. This will also include providing constructive challenge to Social Workers, Team Managers, Senior Managers and the ADM within Local Authorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with specific Local Authorities within the region to quality assure the Child’s Permanence Reports, on behalf of the Agency Decision Maker (ADM), where the Care Plan is Adoption
  • Review completed assessments and Care Planning documents to inform the advice provided.
  • This role includes providing complex high-quality professional advice to the ADM on matters relating to individual cases when required.
  • Undertake continuous reviews of practice and outcomes, as required.
  • Provide comprehensive information, advice and guidance to staff across the Together4Children Senior Leadership Team (SLT), Wider Leadership Team (WLT), and operational teams within Local Authorities.
  • This includes acting as the main reference point for appropriate stakeholders.
  • Undertake audits to support quality assurance within the adoption service and locality.
  • Within this role you may be required to offer support to the running of the Adoption Panel as Agency Panel Advisor.
  • This includes quality assurance of required documents and working inline with adoption regulations and panel timescales.
  • Providing specialist complex, legal and ethical information, advice and guidance in respect of internal and external legislation, regulations, policies, procedures, guidance and practices.
  • Where specialist advice is required that cannot be provided from the range of experts within the Arrangement, lead the identification of this from external agencies (Coram/BAAF, Adoption UK or Inter Country Adoption Centre), or the relevant Government Department (DFE).

Skills and Experience:

  • Qualified social worker with current registration with Social Work England.
  • Experience as an adoption agency adviser
  • In-depth knowledge of adoption legislation, panel processes, and safeguarding requirements.
  • Proven ability to evaluate complex information and make balanced, analytical, and child-focused decisions.
  • 3 Years post qualifying experience
