Reed Education are working with a fantastic Specialist School in the Ormskirk area that are looking to recruit a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead

Contract Type: Full-time Permanent or Temporary

Job Summary:

  • The Deputy DSL will assist the DSL in ensuring the safety and well-being of all children and young people.
  • This role is crucial for anyone dedicated to safeguarding, inclusion, and protecting children's rights. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the DSL: Assist with managing safeguarding referrals, assessments, and plans. 
  • Liaise with external agencies: Work with social services, child protection agencies, and other professionals. 
  • Policy and Practice: Support the implementation and monitoring of safeguarding policies and procedures. 
  • Training: Ensure staff are adequately trained in safeguarding and child protection. 
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of safeguarding concerns and referrals. 
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with staff, parents, and external agencies. 

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience: Relevant experience in working with children and young people, particularly in a safeguarding context.
  • Knowledge: A strong understanding of child protection procedures, legislation, and best practices.
  • Skills: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Training: Relevant safeguarding training, including Level 3 Safeguarding Training. 

Desirable Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Relevant qualifications in education, social work, or a related field.
  • Specific Training: Advanced safeguarding training, such as Level 4 Safeguarding Training or a Certificate in Safeguarding Children.
