Slough Borough Council is seeking a highly organised and proactive Backlog Officer to join the Housing team on a temporary contract. This role is essential to ensure effective management of housing allocations during a period of known absences.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide advice and assistance on the Council's Allocations Scheme and Nominations Agreement.

  • Manage the full allocation process through to matching of properties.

  • Make decisions on housing register applications, determining status and band awards.

  • Allocate accommodation in line with the Housing Allocation Scheme, including administering the direct matching system.

  • Prioritise groups such as medical needs, delayed hospital discharges, under occupiers, and homeless cases.

  • Coordinate void and new build property input from Housing Associations.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant housing legislation and regulations.

Essential Skills & Experience:
  • Strong administrative skills with attention to detail.

  • Practical experience using NEC (Northgate), Civica, and Jigsaw in a housing allocations or housing register context.

  • Knowledge of housing legislation related to allocations.

Desirable:
  • Experience with P6 system.

Working Conditions:

This is currently a hybrid role requiring attendance at the office 3 days per week. This may be subject to change depending on business needs.
