£30,000 - £33,000 basic with up to £3,000 disc bonus
Key Responsibilities
Cash Collection
- Manage cash collection for both branch and corporate accounts.
- Proactively chase outstanding payments through various channels.
- Minimise overdue debt, particularly in the 60- and 90-day categories.
Cash Allocation
- Process BACS and cheque payments, ensuring accurate allocation to customer accounts and specific invoices.
- Regularly reconcile ledgers and unallocated cash.
- Perform weekly reconciliation of cash sale accounts.
Credit Management
- Monitor accounts exceeding 20% of their credit limit and submit reviews as necessary.
- Ensure accounts remain within approved credit limits.
Credit Holds
- Place accounts on hold when appropriate.
- Communicate hold status clearly to both internal teams and external customers.
Customer Queries
- Handle inbound calls and correspondence regarding account queries.
- Record all interactions accurately and promptly.
- Collaborate with branch teams to resolve issues efficiently.
Escalation
- Escalate unresolved issues to the Line Manager in a timely manner.
General Duties
- Produce customer reports and perform general administrative tasks as required.
- Provide cover for absent team members when needed.
Skills & Experience
- Experience in a credit controller role
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Demonstrates energy, initiative, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- High level of numerical accuracy and reconciliation skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and capable of learning internal systems quickly.
