Job Responsibilities

  • Undertake general street cleansing duties in the Mendip area of Somerset, including litter/dog bin emptying, litter picking, manual sweeping, and fly tip removal.

  • Start at the depot in Glastonbury at 5/6am, requiring local residency due to early hours.

  • Operate in a mobile capacity using a work van or street barrow, necessitating a valid driving licence.

  • Perform street cleansing operations across Somerset to enhance and maintain the environment with minimal disruption to customers.

  • Drive a non-LGV vehicle and machinery as needed, ensuring basic care and maintenance, including checking fluid levels, tyre pressures, and other essential vehicle checks.

  • Complete the Daily User Check and report any defects to the area supervisor or Operational Management.

  • Report back on completed work and any health and safety concerns.

  • Operate all tools and equipment safely and appropriately, following manufacturer instructions.

  • Maintain accurate records, including timesheets, tick sheets, vehicle and machinery defect reports, and incident forms.

  • Work outside in all weather conditions and be exposed to disagreeable or hazardous environmental conditions.

  • Be flexible with working hours, which may include weekends and unsocial hours for special events.

Person Specification

  • Essential: Good standard of education and a full UK Driving Licence.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to provide a quality level of service with minimal supervision.

  • Desirable: Experience in a hands-on, physical role or similar position.
