Our client, a leading charity who provide specialist support to high-risk victims of domestic abuse across North Somerset.

 

The role will include providing emotional and practical support, advise and advocacy to victims of domestic abuse and their children.

 

Synopsis of duties:

  • Provide holistic, victim-centred support to survivors and their children, focusing on safety, recovery, empowerment, and independence through practical, emotional, and psychological interventions.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments (including DASH risk and needs assessments), co-produce safety and support plans, and review them regularly to manage risk and promote survivor-led recovery.
  • Coordinate multi-agency collaboration, liaising with police, housing, legal, health, education, and voluntary services to ensure survivors access all relevant support and advocacy.
  • Attending the MARAC and referring service users when appropriate.
  • Champion empowerment and inclusion, ensuring services are accessible, culturally sensitive, and responsive to the needs of diverse and hard-to-reach groups, using a strengths-based and “Think Family” approach.
  • Safeguard adults, children, and young people, identifying and responding to risk, following safeguarding procedures, and promoting the voice and welfare of all family members.
  • Engage in professional development and teamwork, participating in supervision, training, reflective practice, rota duties, and representing the organisation positively in all settings.

 

Essential Requirements:

  • Proven experience working with victims of domestic abuse
  • Experience undertaking assessments, including DASH risk assessments and developing safety and support plans
  • Knowledge of criminal and civil legal remedies, court processes and MARAC
  • Must drive and have access to a car
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service
