Senior Business Change Manager - 12 Month FTC

  • Up to £57,000 (depending on experience)

Are you an experienced Senior Business Change Manager with a knack for handling complex projects? Join our dynamic Business Change team within the IT Portfolio and be part of our resource pool, working on a variety of strategic projects. Current initiatives include CRM, ServiceNow, Windows 10 upgrades, and the Student App. We are particularly interested in filling this role to support the rollout of Windows 11 with a change in policy relating to ways of working.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and deployment of change management and people engagement activities to ensure buy-in and commitment to change.
  • Develop and implement an integrated communications and engagement strategy, providing specialist knowledge and professional advice to senior leadership.
  • Focus on the people side of change, including changes to business processes and systems, to deliver long-term, strategically aligned outcomes.
  • Lead change impact assessments, recommend relevant change management interventions, assess business readiness, and implement associated change management strategies and plans, including engagement, training, and resistance management.
  • Support, coach, and guide staff through change using effective business change management tools and techniques.
  • Build relationships at a senior level within the University to lead, enable, and embed required changes.
  • Conduct detailed stakeholder analysis and mapping to identify specific audiences and ensure targeted messaging.
  • Continuously review benefit realisation and the effectiveness of business change and communications activities.
  • Line management of Senior Business Change Managers and Business Change Managers within the IT Portfolio.
  • Play a key role in ensuring change initiatives meet objectives on time and within budget by increasing employee adoption and usage.

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Significant experience in business change management and communications.
  • Proven project and people management skills.
  • Professional qualification or graduate degree in Business Change Management or Communications.
  • Extensive experience and a deep understanding of the critical role change management plays in the success of programme and project delivery.
  • Experience in designing and delivering communication and engagement strategies.
  • Familiarity with IT in a Higher Education environment.
  • Experience with ITIL methodologies and service management platforms (e.g., ServiceNow).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Visio, Excel, Word, MS Project).
  • Empathetic, considerate, and supportive approach to change.
  • Ability to build and maintain trusted and effective relationships at senior levels.
  • Excellent communication skills, both direct and indirect, suitable for a wide cross-section of stakeholders.
  • Ability to select and utilise a range of change management tools and methodologies that match the project/programme needs.
  • Ability to plan and manage major new projects or significant new activities.
  • Ability to apply relevant tools and techniques associated with business change management, communications, benefits realisation, and organisational change.
