Teaching Assistant with ELSA

Location: Secondary School, Southampton

Contract: Full-time, ongoing

We are seeking a compassionate and proactive Teaching Assistant with ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) experience to join a welcoming secondary school in Southampton. This full-time role is to start immediately and offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students' emotional wellbeing and academic progress.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide targeted emotional literacy support to students, both one-to-one and in small groups.
• Assist in the classroom across a range of subjects, supporting learning and behaviour.
• Work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to identify and support students with emotional and social needs.
• Help create a positive, inclusive learning environment.

Requirements:

• Experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a secondary school setting.
• ELSA training or demonstrable experience in emotional literacy support.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build trusting relationships with students and staff.
• Available to start immediately and work full-time.
