Your Company:A business operating within the chemicals sector is seeking a commercially focussed Technical Manager to join the team in the Southampton area. Working specifically within cleaning and wastewater treatment products and services, this business has the mission of creating a healthier and safer world by actioning key environmental concerns across the globe.As a Technical Manager, the position holder will not only be a subject matter expert and focussed on overseeing the technical operations and engineering for wastewater solutions but will also taking a proactive step towards sales and account management, providing expert advice to existing and prospective clients, as well as delivery strong proposals to convert potential clients to a sale. The role holder will be managing a team of technicians and other professionals to oversee the development of high-performance systems in adherence to industry regulations.Your Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Leading engineers and technicians to deliver wastewater treatment solutions, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards and developing training to keep staff up to date with technologies and best practices
  • Providing technical expertise in designing, optimizing, and operating wastewater systems for the marine industry, leading troubleshooting and supporting product development to improve solutions
  • Maintaining strong relationships with key clients by delivering responsive technical support and service
  • Driving business growth through sales strategies targeting the marine wastewater market, identifying new opportunities, preparing proposals, and presenting tailored technical solutions to potential clients
  • Supporting the sales team by converting leads into clients and providing clients with technical guidance, training, and troubleshooting both before and after the sale
  • Overseeing technical projects from design through to commissioning, ensuring timelines, budgets, and client expectations are met.
  • Preparing and reviewing technical documentation, including specifications, proposals and reports
  • Ensuring project compliance with environmental and marine regulations through audits and performance monitoring, implementing quality assurance processes across all technical operations
  • Clearly communicating technical information to clients, regulators, and project stakeholders
What you will need to Apply:The ideal candidate for this role will have a degree in either Environmental, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or within a related field, and have at least 5+ years of experience within a technical management role. Ideally, exposure to the marine or wastewater treatment industry is sought, as well as comprehensive knowledge of wastewater treatments technologies, marine pollution regulations and related compliance. Excellent project and team management skills are required. Strong sales and account management experience is also needed, as well as the ability to develop and keep meaningful client relationships.
