Solution Architect - Application
Rate - £725 Inside IR35
Location - Southampton - once a week minimum on site
Duration - 6 month initial contract
This assignment is required to operate through an Umbrella company and all employer, employee tax and NI will be deducted from the rate.
Overview:We are seeking a skilled Solution Architect to join one of our clients' growing teams. This is an exciting opportunity for a technology leader to play a pivotal role in shaping, designing, and delivering robust, scalable application architectures across a range of complex enterprise solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead end-to-end solution design for business-critical applications.
- Translate business and technical requirements into coherent architectural designs.
- Define application architectures in alignment with enterprise strategy, governance, and standards.
- Collaborate with stakeholders including business analysts, developers, testers, and project managers to ensure delivery success.
- Provide technical leadership throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Evaluate and recommend tools, technologies, and platforms to support solution needs.
- Ensure non-functional requirements (performance, security, scalability, maintainability) are met.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience as a Solution Architect in enterprise-scale application environments.
- Strong background in software development and application design.
- Familiarity with modern architectural patterns (e.g. microservices, event-driven, API-first).
- Knowledge of integration technologies and platforms (REST, SOAP, message queues).
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP) is highly desirable.
Desirable:
- TOGAF or equivalent architectural certification.
- Background in Agile/DevOps environments.
- Sector experience in [insurance / finance / public sector / retail - adjust as needed].
