We are looking for a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in Southampton. You will support a pupil with additional learning needs and challenging behaviour, helping them access learning in a structured and supportive environment. This full-time role begins in January, with potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 support to a pupil with SEND and challenging behaviour.

  • Assist with adapted learning activities aligned with the pupil’s EHCP.

  • Support communication, sensory needs, regulation strategies, and emotional well-being.

  • Work alongside teachers, therapists, and the SENCO to follow personalised support plans.

  • Promote engagement, independence, and consistency throughout the school day.

  • Support transitions, routines, and behaviour management using agreed school strategies.

What We’re Looking For
  • Experience working in an SEN school or with pupils with SEND or challenging behaviour (preferred but not essential).

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships.

  • Patience, resilience, and a proactive attitude.

  • Ability to follow safeguarding procedures and school policies.

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
