Astute's Power Team are supporting an International Power Generation company who have a number of Gas Fired Power Stations across the UK.
Their Spalding Power Station comprises of a recently upgraded Combined Cycle Gas Turbine plant, capable of producing up to 950MW plus an Open Cycle Gas Turbine plant with a capacity of 300MW.
The Electrical, Controls and Instrumentation Technician will be responsible for carrying out reactive and preventative maintenance across a variety of critical assets including motors, switchgear, sensors, PLC / DCS / SCADA systems to ensure maximum plant availability.

Responsibilities and duties of the Electrical, Controls and Instrumentation Technician role:
Reporting directly to the EC&I Lead as an EC&I Technician, you will be responsible for:
- Carrying out fault diagnosis, repairs, planned and unplanned maintenance activities on all EC&I assets to ensure efficient operation of the site and to maximise plant availability.
- This includes pressure, temperature, flow and level transmitters as well as DCS and PLC control systems. Electrical maintenance work on motors, switchgear, HV plant, generators etc would also be required
- Programming the sites DCS/PLC equipment
- Supervising and directing contractors
- Maintaining the continuous emission monitoring systems (CEMS)
- Assisting in plant shutdowns and outages
- Ensuring all work is carried out in line with company health and safety policies and procedures
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
- Ideally qualified in a recognised Electrical / C&I apprenticeship in a heavy process industry
- A relevant technical qualification such as an NVQ / ONC / HNC in Electrical, Control or Instrumentation engineering or a similar discipline
- IOSH or NEBOSH would be advantageous
Personal skills
The EC&I Technician role would suit someone who has:
- At least 5 years of hands-on maintenance experience with motors, switchgear, instrumentation (flow, level, pressure, temperature etc) and control systems (SCADA, DCS and PLC)
- Practical knowledge of process plant and equipment gained in a heavy engineering environment such as power generation, petrochemical, steel works, CHP plant, paper mill etc. Royal Navy Marine Engineers will also be considered.
- Experience with High-Voltage equipment such as transformers / switchgear will be advantageous.
