Job Overview for the Toolmaker:
The Tool Maker is a permanent position due to growth and staff retirement. The Toolmaker is responsible for the manufacture and maintenance of mould tools and the manufacture of precision machined components and inserts.
Key Responsibilities and Duties for the Toolmaker:
- To undertake the repair and maintenance of all production tooling when required.
- To manufacture and assemble new tooling, precision machined components and inserts working from detailed technical drawings.
- To accurately interpret technical engineering drawings and produce parts effectively.
- To assist in the development, maintenance and production of all secondary engineering equipment.
- Report any tool design changes direct to the tool designers to ensure tool drawings are kept up to date for future reference.
- To assist in developing the team as required and to assist with mentoring the toolmaker apprentices.
- To effectively identify day to day tooling issues and implement corrective action where required.
- Focus on improving machining time methods of tooling parts to help speed up the process of tool manufacturing.
- Participate in Tool Design Reviews, and actively seek to improve the tool design and performance.
- To comply with health and safety standards through implementation of relevant working practices and procedures.
- Ensure adherence to all current quality standards and procedures.
- Carry out any other duties that are within the employee's skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed.
Key Skills, Qualifications & Experience for the Toolmaker:
- Apprenticeship served in engineering/tool making.
- Extensive toolmaking experience.
- Ability to use all available tool making and measuring equipment.
- CNC Programming using Proto TRAK, HAAS, Heidenhain and Fanuc.
Hours of work for the Toolmaker:
Monday to Friday 8am to 4.30pm
