Design Coordinator - Water Infrastructure Projects
Location: St Albans or Reading
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 per annum
Red Sky Personnel are recruiting on behalf of a leading civil engineering and infrastructure contractor, delivering significant projects across the water, transport, energy, and built environment sectors. We are seeking a Design Coordinator to join their Southern Region team, supporting the delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure schemes.
The Role:
As a Design Coordinator, you will work closely with the Design Manager and project teams to manage and coordinate design activities across the project lifecycle. You will help ensure that technical solutions are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required safety and quality standards. This role involves liaising with external consultants, managing inputs across multiple disciplines, and ensuring constructability of designs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate design activities to meet project specifications, budget, and programme
- Support the Design Manager in discharging CDM Principal Designer duties
- Promote safety, buildability, and sustainability through design
- Liaise with external design consultants and internal stakeholders
- Ensure site investigations and technical outputs support construction requirements
- Identify and manage design risks, opportunities, and changes
- Assist in producing design briefs, documentation, and handover materials
- Ensure high standards of quality and governance across design outputs
Requirements:
- Experience in water and wastewater infrastructure projects
- Knowledge of temporary works and relevant responsibilities
- Degree/HNC in Civil Engineering or equivalent (or working towards)
- Awareness of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and data environments
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools
- Excellent communication and project coordination skills
