VAT ManagerREED Practice are seeking a VAT Manager for our client who will lead the delivery of VAT services within the tax business. This role involves acting as a technical specialist in VAT and indirect tax matters, enhancing our firm's offerings, and developing new client relationships through strategic business development.Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
  • Service Management: Take charge of the firm’s VAT services, using technical expertise to enhance business profile and identify tax planning opportunities.
  • Process Improvement: Develop internal processes and procedures for VAT work, addressing risk areas and improving VAT compliance consistency.
  • Management Support: Provide management support, ensuring effective allocation and supervision of work, and offering regular performance feedback.
  • Business Development: Promote the firm externally through business development activities, initiating and attending meetings with clients and referral bodies.
  • Strategic Involvement: Actively participate in meetings with Partners, contributing to discussions on marketing, finances, and wider firm strategy.
  • Team Development: Contribute to staff development through knowledge sharing and team meetings.
  • Portfolio Development: There is scope to develop your own portfolio and potentially progress to Director.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience: Significant VAT/indirect tax experience with a relevant professional qualification (CTA/ACA/ACCA or similar).
  • Knowledge: Strong technical and commercial understanding of VAT, including European VAT issues and Customs Duty.
  • Business Development: Proven ability to introduce new business or expand existing streams through client service and business development activities.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and effectively manage relationships.
  • Leadership: Strong leadership and management skills, capable of raising performance and building engagement.
  • Adaptability: Flexible and adaptable, committed to the firm’s goals and able to manage multiple deadlines under pressure.
