I am seeking a Structural Engineer to join my client on a permanent basis, working within their Stafford-based Design Consultancy team. This role is integral to delivering high-quality design, procurement, and maintenance solutions across the schools property lifecycle. You will contribute to a dynamic in-house practice that brings together architectural, surveying, engineering, and specialist building services expertise to support construction projects and property risk management. With a focus on responsive, efficient, and technically excellent consultancy services, this position plays a key part in ensuring schools throughout Staffordshire receive a world-class design service.
Role: Structural Engineer
Location: Stafford
Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
Salary: 50,000 - 53,000
Responsibilities
- The good design of the structural engineering content of the architectural, building and design projects from Inception to Completion, either on an individual basis or as part of a Project Team.
- To assist the Senior Engineers and Principal Engineer in the determination of corporate policy on structural engineering matters.
- To assist in ensuring that the structural engineering content of schemes is carried out within approved budgets and agreed time scales.
- To assist the promotion and development of the highest quality of design and constructional standards for structural engineering with particular emphasis on value-for-money and cost-in-use, whilst assisting the Senior Engineers and Principal Engineer in ensuring compliance with the Client's requirements, current legislation and Codes of Practice.
Essential Requirements
- Chartered Structural Engineer.
- Possess knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act, Asbestos Regulations, COSHH, CDM and other legislation and regulations concerned with building and development.
- Be capable of preparing detailed structural engineering drawings to a good standard.
- Have a sound knowledge of structural engineering as it relates to general building construction.
- Be capable of using computer aided design (CAD)
- Proactive on-going personal development will be expected leading to membership of a relevant engineering institution and registration with The Engineering Council.
