Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Night Shift Site Engineer to support the delivery of cladding installation works in a critical infrastructure tunnel. The role involves overseeing construction activities during night shifts, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and programme requirements. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with shift engineers, contractors, and the supply chain to ensure that works are completed on schedule and to a high standard.
This opportunity offers hands-on experience in a complex and high-profile infrastructure environment, supporting ongoing asset management and compliance programmes across a major transport estate.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Shift Engineer in subcontractor management, progress tracking, and shift reporting.
- Assist in short-term programming and sequencing, aligned with the overall project schedule.
- Complete Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) check sheets progressively as work is carried out.
- Contribute to efficient management of shift activities to maintain programme timelines.
- Work closely with supervisors and subcontractors to ensure streamlined operations.
- As a Site Engineer, uphold high standards in health, safety, environmental management, and sustainability.
- Ensure all permits, RAMS (Risk Assessments & Method Statements), and QA documentation are in place and up to date.
- Drive efficiency and promote best practice in productivity and quality delivery.
- Foster a collaborative, team-oriented working environment.
Essential Requirements
- Civil Engineering qualification (HNC, HND, or Degree level) with practical site experience.
- Valid SMSTS and CSCS certification.
- Strong focus on record keeping and quality control, key attributes of a reliable Site Engineer.
- Excellent team collaboration skills, working well with engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors.
- Confidence to raise concerns and clarify instructions as required on-site.
- A proactive approach to continuous improvement and best practice implementation.
- Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Committed to delivering high-quality work and exceeding expectations.
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Previous experience in the aviation or transportation infrastructure sector.
- A positive, proactive, and professional attitude that reflects well on any Site Engineer representing the team.
