This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to frontline policing by conducting investigations into volume and priority crime.As an Investigating Officer, you’ll play a crucial role in gathering and reviewing evidence, supporting investigations, and ensuring high-quality victim and witness care throughout the criminal justice process.Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct investigations into volume and priority crime at PIP1 level
  • Interview victims, witnesses, and suspects using appropriate techniques
  • Prepare and manage court files, including remand and expedited files
  • Handle exhibits and disclosure material in line with legislation
  • Work collaboratively with internal departments and external agencies (e.g. CPS)
  • Support safeguarding duties where required (e.g., DA, child protection, vulnerable adults)
  • Provide high-quality updates and statements in line with evidential standards
  • Maintain accurate records and manage caseloads efficiently
Essential Criteria:
  • PIP1 qualified (applications from PIP2 welcome)
  • Competent in suspect and witness interviewing
  • Demonstrated experience in file building for prosecution
  • Strong communication and decision-making skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple investigations simultaneously
  • Working knowledge of criminal law and the criminal justice system
  • Full UK driving licence
