Our client based at HMP Millsike is seeking an inspiring and initiative-takingPrison Employment Leadto drive forward employment support for prisoners from entry to custody through to successful resettlement in the community. This pivotal role focuses on building a culture of employment readiness, overseeing tailored support plans, and ensuring meaningful career progression during custody and beyond the gate. ThePrison Employment Lead will also be responsible for the relationship management of the employers we work with in our Industry spaces and seeking new partner employers as needed to provide meaningful employment inside the prison.

Responsibilities:

  • You will be accountable to the Head of Education Skills & Work for the effective management of the Strategic Leadership & Partnership Working.
  • Lead and embed the Employment on Release Plan across the establishment, ensuring it is current, meaningful, and regularly updated for each prisoner.
  • Track, monitor and report prisoner outcomes 6 weeks, 6 months, and 12 months after release.
  • Champion and support veterans in custody, ensuring tailored resettlement plans and through-the-gate employment support is in place.
  • Collaborate closely with the DWP, Jobcentre Plus, CIAG Team, Resettlement Teams and other key stakeholders to create wraparound resettlement plans aligned to prisoner needs and job market trends.
  • Liaise with the New Futures Network (NFN) and local employers to broker employment pathways and pre-release interviews where appropriate.
  • Pre-Release Preparation & Programme Delivery
  • Design and deliver a suite of pre-release courses including:

CV and disclosure letter writing

Interview skills and mock interviews.

Online and in-person job searching strategies.

Work-readiness sessions, including resilience and communication.

  • Promote sector-specific employment pathways including construction, hospitality, and logistics.
  • Laise with the Business Banking & ID Administrator, providing daily guidance and ongoing development.
  • Contribute to the Self-Assessment Report (SAR) and Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) by evaluating the quality and impact of employment services Advisory Services & CIAG Coordination
  • Work alongside the CIAG team to ensure advice is consistent, high quality and adapted to meet individual needs, including for those with additional needs or neurodiverse profiles.
  • Keep up to date with national employment initiatives and changing legislation, integrating best practice and innovative approaches to career services delivery.

Education and Training

  • Level 3 or above qualification in either Careers Information Advice and Guidance or Business Management

  • Experience Proven experience in career services, employment support, or related roles.
  • Strong knowledge of career guidance practices, job market trends, and employment support strategies
