A prestigious Top 200 UK law firm with one of the largest private client teams in the East Midlands is seeking a confident and proactive Trusts Lawyer to join its growing and well-respected team. The firm has a long-standing reputation for excellence and client care.

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced solicitor or legal executive with a strong background in Trusts and Tax planning to join the firm’s dedicated Trusts team at its Stamford office. You may already specialise in this area or be an experienced private client lawyer with substantial Trusts experience looking to deepen your focus.

Working closely with the Head of Trusts and a Partner based in Stamford, your role will involve advising on a wide range of trust-related matters including:

  • Creation, administration, and termination of trusts

  • Drafting trust documentation and deeds

  • Trust tax returns and annual accounts

  • Trust Registration Service (HMRC) compliance

  • Inheritance Tax and Capital Gains Tax planning

  • Agricultural and Business Property Relief

  • Declarations of Trust

  • Collaborating with colleagues and external advisers

You may also assist with Wills (particularly those using trusts) and the administration of both taxable and non-taxable estates.

You’ll be actively involved in marketing and business development efforts, working with the firm’s marketing team to grow the department and maintain its strong reputation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality legal advice and service to existing clients

  • Help grow the Trusts and Private Client departments through business development and referrals

  • Contribute to fee generation in line with personal and departmental targets

  • Maintain up-to-date legal knowledge, especially in tax and trust developments

  • Maintain financial discipline and accurate time recording

  • Work in compliance with risk and quality assurance procedures

About You

Essential:

  • Qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive

  • Substantial experience in Tax and Trust matters

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Meticulous attention to detail and a structured approach

  • High standard of client service and empathy

  • Confidence working with high-net-worth individuals and professionals

  • Familiarity with AML and SRA accounting rules

Desirable:

  • STEP Diploma (or willingness to study)

  • Experience with SOS Connect

  • Previous experience in cross-departmental referrals

  • Business development and presentation skills

Role Details:
  • Location: Stamford, Lincolnshire

  • Hours: Monday - Friday, 09:00 - 17:15 (36.25 hours per week)

  • Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
