Shift Pattern: 2 Days / 2 Nights / 5 Off | 42 Hours per Week

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established and forward-thinking engineering team based in Stansted. This role offers the chance to work within a highly automated, fast-paced environment where reliability, precision, and teamwork are key.

The Role

As a Maintenance Engineer, you’ll be responsible for ensuring all on-site equipment and systems are maintained to the highest standard. You’ll play a vital part in keeping operations running efficiently by carrying out both planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs on a variety of mechanical and electrical systems.

You’ll work on conveyors, sortation systems, automation, and handling equipment, resolving faults quickly to reduce downtime and maintain productivity. The role requires a proactive engineer who takes pride in problem-solving and keeping essential systems running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct both planned and reactive maintenance on a range of automated and mechanical systems.

  • Diagnose faults on electrical, mechanical, and control systems.

  • Liaise with contractors and coordinate maintenance activities safely and efficiently.

  • Ensure equipment reliability through effective maintenance and continuous improvement.

  • Maintain accurate service and maintenance records.

  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure all work meets health and safety standards.

  • Support operational teams to achieve performance targets and minimise downtime.

About You

You’ll be a multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer with a solid background in mechanical and electrical systems, ideally with experience in automated environments. You should be capable of working both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating a proactive and solutions-focused mindset.

Requirements:

  • Level 3 Engineering qualification (electrical or mechanical).

  • Experience in maintenance within a fast-paced or automated setting.

  • Confident in electrical and mechanical fault-finding.

  • Exposure to automation, conveyors, or control systems (PLC knowledge desirable).

  • Strong organisational and communication skills.

  • Flexible approach to working a rotating shift pattern (days and nights).
