Head of Projects - Live Events & Production

A leading player in the live events and production industry is seeking a Head of Projects to lead and manage their growing Project Management, Rigging, and Inspections teams. This is a senior leadership role responsible for driving operational excellence, client engagement, and commercial performance across a dynamic portfolio of live event projects.

Key Objectives
  • Lead and manage the delivery of all production projects within the Project Management and Inspections teams, ensuring profitability and efficiency.
  • Provide leadership, strategic direction, and day-to-day oversight of staff across technical and production disciplines.
  • Maintain and develop strong relationships with clients, venues, and key industry stakeholders.
Main Responsibilities1. Team Management & Commercial Oversight
  • Provide line management and assign tasks across the project delivery teams.
  • Monitor team performance and resource utilisation to drive cost-effective outcomes.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and appraisal of freelance and full-time crew.
  • Ensure all active quotes are followed up and tracked effectively to maximise conversion rates.
  • Approve and guide quotations and tenders for projects, including commercial input and risk assessment.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to support timely and accurate invoicing.
  • Report regularly to senior leadership on project status, pipeline activity, and client engagement.
2. Business Development & Client Engagement
  • Cultivate and grow relationships with existing and prospective clients, venues, and other partners.
  • Attend site visits, production meetings, and industry events to support business visibility and delivery excellence.
  • Generate and qualify new business leads through networking, market insights, and personal industry connections.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activity to identify new revenue opportunities.
  • Contribute to annual revenue forecasting and budgeting activity.
  • Support negotiations and ensure services are delivered to a high standard and within agreed margins.
Key Skills & ExperienceEssential
  • Proven ability to manage and lead cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience in margin management and cost control.
  • Working knowledge of live event rigging, technical production, and industry terminology.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience in proposals and presentations.
  • Proficient in using spreadsheets and project tracking systems to monitor financial performance.
Desirable
  • Background in Project, Account, or Operations Management within the live events industry.
  • Familiarity with health & safety compliance specific to events and production.
  • Experience in leading sales strategies or coordinating sales programmes.
