Job Title: Safety Engineer

Overview:


An opportunity to join a leading defence organisation as a Safety Engineer, contributing to the safety assurance of complex weapon systems. This role involves working across multi-disciplinary teams to deliver safety analyses and documentation that support integration onto domestic and export platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain Safety Case Reports, Safety Management Plans, and hazard analyses.
  • Lead safety activities in collaboration with internal teams and external authorities.
  • Conduct hazard identification exercises (HAZOP, SWIFT) and risk assessments (FTA, ETA).
  • Support safety panels and certification processes.
  • Ensure compliance with standards such as DEF-STAN 00-056, IEC 61508, DO-178C, and DO-254.

Essential Skills:

  • Strong background in safety engineering within defence or aerospace.
  • Experience in electronic engineering (degree/HND level or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with system engineering and safety integration.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and ability to construct safety arguments.
