Hertfordshire County Council is seeking experienced and motivated Family Safeguarding Consultant Social Workers to join our teams in West (Apsley) and East (Stevenage).

As a Consultant Social Worker, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality social work services to vulnerable children and families. You will work with a small, complex caseload, support staff, and provide management cover in the Team Manager's absence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert social work interventions to ensure the safety and well-being of children and families.

  • Lead on assessments, develop care plans, and implement tailored interventions.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external agencies to offer holistic family support.

  • Conduct court work and support colleagues with court proceedings.

  • Support the development of junior staff through supervision and guidance.

Essential Criteria:

  • Qualified and Social Work England registered.

  • At least 1 year of post-qualification experience in social work.

  • Experience of staff supervision and management.

  • Strong knowledge of care proceedings and court work.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft IT packages.

  • Full UK driving licence and regular access to a vehicle.
