Complex Needs Teaching Assistant - Stockport

Are you a kind and compassionate teaching assistant with experience supporting complex needs? We are currently recruiting for teaching assistants to join a large SEN school in the Stockport area. The school supports pupils aged 4-19 with PMLD.

This role is ideal for someone with a care background, offering hands-on support to students with complex needs. The successful candidate will provide personal care, assist with learning activities, and contribute to a nurturing and inclusive environment. Immediate start available.

Position: Teaching Assistant (PMLD)

Location: Stockport

Contract Type: Full Time

Daily Rate: 91.00

Working Hours: 08:30 - 15:30

Start Date: ASAP

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with PMLD
  • Assist with personal care, feeding, and mobility (including hoisting, where required)
  • Support students with communication methods such as PECS, Makaton, or assistive technology
  • Help create a safe, engaging and inclusive learning environment
  • Work closely with the class teacher and wider multidisciplinary team

Candidate Requirements:

  • Experience working with individuals with PMLD or complex needs
  • Background in care or similar support roles highly desirable
  • Patient, empathetic, and confident in providing personal care and tailored support
  • Able to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team

To be eligible you must:

  • Hold Right to Work in the UK
    * Hold (or be willing to apply for) an Enhanced Child Barred List DBS registered with the Update Service
    * Provide two professional child-related references
