Logistics Coordinator - Stockport - £37,100 - Hybrid Working

The Situation
A leading train manufacturer is looking to hire a Logistics Coordinator to manage heavy logistics movements, focusing on repairable spares (e.g., bogies, wheelsets) sent for overhaul and repair, especially between the UK and Spain. The role will be at the heart of complex logistics operations and acts as a key contact for both internal teams and external suppliers, supporting material managers and driving operational excellence.

You will ensure consistent material availability and timely transport for repairable spares & identify and implement improvements to logistics operations and supplier reliability.

The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to play a crucial role in the continuous improvement of logistics operations at a global leader in the rail industry. You will have exposure to fantastic progression opportunities throughout the business and get the chance to build strong relationships and drive supplier performance, especially with challenging partners. This is a high impact role with multiple challenges to manage.

Job Overview

  • Manage heavy logistics movements, focusing on repairable spares (e.g., bogies, wheelsets) sent for overhaul and repair, especially between the UK and Spain.
  • Ensure timely material availability, control transport spend, and optimize supplier performance.
  • Oversee customs, import/export processes, and internal logistics improvements.
  • Act as a key contact for both internal teams and external suppliers, supporting material managers and driving operational excellence.

Location / Working Arrangement

  • Hybrid
  • Stockport (3 days per week)
  • Occasional travel to other Manchester site 

Essential Criteria

  • Proven experience in logistics operations, ideally in a manufacturing or engineering industry
  • Advanced Excel and Outlook skills for managing multiple logistics tasks
  • Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proactive, energetic, and organized approach; able to work under stress and tight deadlines.

Desirable

  • Spanish speaker
