About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Democratic Services Officer to join our Governance and Democratic Services team. You will play a pivotal role in supporting the democratic process, ensuring the smooth operation of council meetings, and providing high-quality advice to elected members and senior officers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and support the delivery of council, cabinet, and committee meetings.
  • Provide expert advice on constitutional and procedural matters.
  • Lead on the preparation and publication of agendas, reports, and minutes.
  • Support elected members in their roles, including training and development.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and best practice in governance.
About You
  • Proven experience in democratic or committee services within local government.
  • Strong understanding of local government law, procedures, and governance frameworks.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities.
