HGV Fitter – Defence Sector

Location: Stockport

Pay Rates: £19.22/hour (Days) | £25.56/hour (Nights)

Join a well-established defence manufacturer at the forefront of military vehicle production. They’re looking for an experienced HGV Fitter to support the final build and assembly of armoured wheeled vehicles, working as part of a high-performing production team.

Key Duties:

  • Assemble armoured vehicles and their sub-assemblies to specification
  • Diagnose and repair faults across mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Interpret engineering drawings and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Use diagnostic software for system installation and troubleshooting
  • Source and order necessary parts and tools
  • Accurately complete job records using SAP
  • Liaise with other teams to ensure efficient workflow
  • Offer support and guidance to junior team members
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant work environment in line with 5S principles
  • Be willing to travel occasionally for training, including overseas when required

What We’re Looking For:

  • A recognised qualification – City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in a relevant discipline
  • Hands-on experience with specialist or military vehicle assembly/maintenance
  • Solid understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Confident interpreting technical drawings and documentation
  • Knowledge of quality and safety systems
  • Good communicator with strong organisational skills
