The Workshop Manager role is working for a manufacturer in the Alton area. The working hours for the role are 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. The role is paying up to £50,000 depending on experience.

The Workshop Manager will be responsible for overseeing all areas of the UK manufacturing and production operations. This includes managing departments involved in welding, machining, painting, wiring and assembly, ensuring that products are produced to a high standard and delivered on time. The role combines leadership with a hands-on approach, requiring someone who is comfortable both organising and actively contributing to production work. Day to day, the position involves supervising a team of around 15 production staff, providing guidance, coaching and support. The manager will plan and schedule production activities, addressing any shortages or disruptions quickly. The role also includes managing the sourcing and stock of materials, components and consumables, working with suppliers to achieve the best pricing and delivery times. A key responsibility is to regularly review manufacturing methods, equipment and overall processes, identifying opportunities for improvement. In addition, the manager will play an active role in supporting audits of UK-made products and components, working closely with the purchasing department to address issues and implement corrective or preventative actions. They’ll also need to use ERP systems effectively to manage manufacturing data, including bills of materials, stock levels, and reordering processes, to maintain strong stock availability. The manager will also support the company’s ISO9001 accreditation by participating in management meetings, progressing agreed actions and potentially becoming an internal auditor.

You will need:

  • Previous experience in a similar position in a manufacturing/production environment
  • Previous experience leading a team
  • Experience and knowledge of ERP systems
  • Competent with IT including Excel, Word and Outlook
  • To be able to take ownership and motivate
