Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Private Client Tax Manager to join our prestigious boutique accounting practice in Suffolk. This senior role offers the opportunity to work with high-net-worth individuals, entrepreneurs, and family businesses, providing comprehensive tax planning and compliance services in a collaborative and client-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

Tax Compliance & Planning

  • Prepare and review complex personal tax returns, including self-assessment, capital gains tax, and inheritance tax computations
  • Manage tax compliance for trusts, estates, and family investment companies
  • Develop and implement tax-efficient strategies for high-net-worth clients
  • Advise on capital gains tax planning, including reliefs such as Business Asset Disposal Relief and Investors' Relief
  • Provide inheritance tax planning advice and estate structuring solutions

Client Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with private clients and their professional advisors
  • Lead client meetings and present complex tax advice in an accessible manner
  • Manage a diverse portfolio of private clients with varying complexity levels
  • Coordinate with other departments to deliver comprehensive client solutions
  • Handle client queries and provide timely, accurate tax advice

Team Leadership & Development

  • Supervise and mentor junior tax staff and trainees
  • Review work quality and provide constructive feedback
  • Delegate assignments effectively and monitor progress
  • Support team development through training and knowledge sharing
  • Contribute to the recruitment and selection of new team members

Technical Excellence

  • Stay current with tax legislation changes and their practical implications
  • Research complex tax issues and provide innovative solutions
  • Attend relevant CPD courses and technical updates
  • Contribute to the firm's technical knowledge base and best practices

Business Development

  • Identify opportunities for additional services within existing client relationships
  • Support partner-led business development activities
  • Participate in networking events and professional forums
  • Maintain relationships with referral sources including solicitors, IFAs, and other professionals
Essential Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • ACA, ACCA, CTA, or equivalent professional qualification
  • Minimum 5-7 years of private client tax experience
  • Strong technical knowledge of UK personal taxation, trusts, and estates
  • Experience with tax compliance software and Excel proficiency
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or mentoring role
