The Role

We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapists to work with children and young people up to the age of 18 years old, with a substantial and long-term physical or mental impairment

Key Requirements

  • Conducting high-quality occupational therapy assessments of need within the local authority's statutory responsibility.
  • Performing assessments in the home environment for children and young people with complex disabilities.
  • Identifying difficulties and exploring solutions through advice, information, provision of equipment, minor/major adaptations, and liaising with professionals from health and education sectors.
  • Collaborating with wider organisations such as Housing organisations and Community Equipment Services
  • Maximise the quality of life and increase independence for the children and young people we support.
  • Enhance safety by providing specialist equipment and adaptations, and supporting parents and carers in their roles.
  • Moving and Handling - (offering low-level advice to complex moving and handling, including hoisting, sling assessments, in bed turning and slide sheet systems, single-handed care)
  • Knowledge of neurodiverse conditions / behaviour management, safety equipment / recommendations

Skills & Experience

  • To be fully qualified and registered with the HCPC
  • Motivation and adaptability.
  • The ability to work independently and autonomously as well as part of a team.
  • Organisational skills to manage your own workload.
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise with families, children, young people, and other professionals.
