We're working with a long-established advanced materials manufacturer whose products are trusted in some of the most demanding environments on the planet - from defence and security to aerospace, marine and high-performance automotive.

This is an opportunity for a hands-on Project Development Engineer to sit at the sharp end of innovation, owning technically complex projects from initial concept through to validated, production-ready solutions.

The Role

You will take full technical ownership of development projects, designing composite and polymer-based solutions that deliver protection and performance in extreme conditions. Working within a specialist project engineering team, you will act as a subject matter expert for defined product ranges and play a visible role in customer and supplier engagement.
Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading engineering development projects from enquiry response to production
  • Developing new products and processes, including de-risking and validation
  • Defining and executing internal and external test programmes
  • Producing technical reports, proposals and summaries
  • Supporting business development through customer visits and technical input
  • Acting as a technical interface with suppliers, customers and internal teams

What we're looking for

  • Degree qualified in Materials, Mechanical, Aerospace, Composites or a related engineering discipline
  • Minimum 2 years' relevant industry experience
  • Exposure to composite materials and manufacturing environments
  • Strong technical writing and reporting capability
  • Comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Detail-driven and confident working in regulated, procedure-led environments
  • Eligible for UK Security Clearance

What's on offer

  • Technically challenging projects with real-world impact
  • Long-term career development within a specialist engineering environment
  • Involvement in mission-critical applications across multiple sectors
  • Occasional UK travel; infrequent overseas travel

If you're an engineer who enjoys taking ownership, solving complex material challenges and seeing products through from concept to reality, this is a role worth exploring.
