About the Role

We are hiring for a specialist lighting team, they are looking for a Senior - Principal Lighting Consultant to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with an engineering background who want to develop expertise in lighting design, technology, and consultancy.

Lighting Consultants play a crucial role in designing safe, efficient, and visually appealing environments. You'll combine technical engineering knowledge with creativity to deliver lighting solutions that enhance spaces while meeting strict standards, sustainability goals, and client expectations.



What a Lighting Consultant Does

As a Lighting Consultant, you will:

  • Design lighting schemes for a wide range of office environments, ensuring compliance with regulations and achieving required light levels

  • Use lighting modelling software to simulate illumination, energy performance, and visual comfort

  • Carry out light surveys to assess existing conditions and provide recommendations

  • Prepare CAD drawings, layouts, and documentation to support project delivery

  • Work closely with architects, engineers, and clients to ensure integrated design solutions

  • Attend site visits to review installations, take measurements, and support commissioning

  • Provide advice on lighting controls, energy saving measures, and best-practice lighting principles

  • Project manage multiple assignments, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget



Essential Requirements

  • Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering degree

  • Full UK driving licence



Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Lighting-specific qualifications (Lighting Degree or Diplomas)

  • Experience in photography

  • Conducting light surveys

  • Previous site work experience
